out of curiosity have u met the other owners u listed in your article before doing this write up? You might be surprised, maybe take the time meet them and find out a bit more. Noted everyone is free to voice out their opinion but a little fact check might go a long way.

But Nala designs and the other names listed do come at a ridiculous premium. Locals know their backstories when they’re the ones that have to work for them.

Just curious what you mean by fact checking in this instance when enough interviews/questions have been shovelled their way when they’ve been ‘called out’. There’s a reason for them branding the narrative as “we’re making it more accessible/for the masses” etc and pricing it at a ridiculous range that only those with money can afford.

I remember my mum being curious about the prints before and the sales lady telling us that their boss only gives them a limited amount of cloth to produce x amount of clothing articles (usually dresses and skirts). There was a cheongsam-inspired line that only had a total of 5 pieces per design (this includes sizing ranging from xs-xxl) with a hefty price tag. I don’t actually see that as helping when baju kurungs weren’t what she was trying to sell until the moment came.
